NYCC!

Friends and readers,

Jon and I know that we have, as of late, been neglecting this blog. When summer ended, he and I suddenly got really busy, and things here slowed down a little bit. Fear not, though, they should pick up again soon, if only because of this weekend's main event, New York Comic Con.

Keep your eyes on the space for the last part of the much delayed Greg Rucka and Rick Burchett interview, and whatever new stuff Jon and I manage to pick up at con.

Two

Two years ago last week, I said "Jon, let's start a comics blog," and then we did. Two years ago, The Long And Shortbox of It came online. We've come a long way since then. Some changes have been made. Some creators have been interviewed. Some comics have been reviewed. There's more of all that to come, and some other pretty sweet stuff on the horizon too.

We're looking forward to what's next. And we're glad to have you along.

A new lease on life.

I thought, dear Long and Shortbox readers I should take a moment to celebrate the fact that we here at The Long and Shortbox Of It have become just a teensy bit more official by becoming:

All the same great content: reviews, editorials, interviews, quotes, and news commentary all in little easy RSS'ed packets of blog information now at a more easily reachable address. Rejoice. For we did it in six hours, spent $44 to secure two years, and saw that it was good!

Real Quick!

Sunday (that's today!) I'll be giving a talk at NYCC in room 1A15, at 1:30 PM. If you can stop by and say hello, I promise you will not be disappointed.

For Making With The Promotion We Bring You: Branding!

I think it's a good thing to spiffy things on a website up bit by bit instead of roll out big over-the-top redesigns that make it nearly impossible to find anything you are looking for.

So I've made little improvements along the way, but today we go from this:
to this:

and possibly also to this:
for Twitter (@LongandShortbox) and Facebook (facebook.com/LongandShortboxOfIt) and business cards and stuff like that. Since today is the first day of New York Comic-Con, I thought it would be nice to reveal this stuff today.

And he said it was good. And it was good.

Today, We Are One...

Today is The Long and Shortbox of It's 366th day, and if you've liked what you've seen so far, then you should stick around: our 228 posts over the course of the last year are just the beginning.

We've had some growing pains since we introduced ourselves to the blogosphere a year ago, but Jon, Clare and myself have worked through them and we believe that we're better comics critics for it. We're a lot more experienced now, a lot better at figuring out exactly what it is we want to say about something and why what we have to say is important.

Those of you who have been around for awhile, thanks for sticking with us. Those of you who are new here, thanks for showing up and you should take the opportunity to check out the archives. Everyone should invite their friends, because The Long and Shortbox of It is one 'round the clock comics party that never ends, and we're just going to keep getting better.

Here's to another year full of comics, and thanks for reading.
